9 Windows

Combines the use of body puppets, marionettes, dance, acrobatic and video; framed in the absurd world of today, creating exciting conceptual images of the "immigrant displaced". It deals with a Colombian immigrant in New York who has strange dreams, which affect his view of the world. It puts into perspective the ludicrousness, of today’s international events centering around the tragedy at place in Colombia today.

The play deals with the relationship between where we come from and where we go. Restrepo explains, "Grandparents ashes and the footsteps through the earth give us a way to enter the strange world of the main character as he deals with his new life in New York City. A Dream that his former world, his homeland, are drifting away and the anguish that this sensation brings about, form visualizations of the main character’s mental state."

9 Windows, as with other Loco7 productions, deals with the psychological state of the spectator without using an explicit text narrative, it creates movement and visual elements to abstractly express the anguish and detachment, which is the Colombian experience. The ever present goal to transcend cultural barriers and to bring a public, who come from different places, an emotional reaction that goes beyond the specific context; the same emotional reaction that is closely linked to the political and social problems thatare common to all people in the world. Thus we want to present to the international community a reflection and perspective that is both intimate and universal.
