| Exhibitions Federico Restrepo 2009 Clandestine/Clandestino, La MaMa Galleria, New York. Clandestine/Clandestino is a mixed media installation that speaks about displacement and immigration. In this exhibition, composed of sculpture, painting, video and larger than life marionettes, Restrepo explores ideas of paranoid perceptions, longings to belong, the need to hold on to cultural identity and the immigrant's feelings of alienation. Clandestine/Clandestino is a collage of images on the experience of living in a new culture, exploring the phenomenon of being a stranger in a strange land. In Restrepo’s words, “A Dream that your former world, your homeland, are drifting away and the anguish that this sensation creates, provokes the immigrant’s mental state.” Click here for images.
